A look back over 2019-2020

The spring and summer term didn’t exactly go how any of us had planned! Coronavirus certainly put a spanner in the works for our sports programme. However, IAPS Sport still has a lot to celebrate from everything that did take place! Here are a few highlights:

  • 119 events were held across 7 sports

  • 17,000 competitors participated in an event

  • 7000 medals and badges were awarded

  • we partnered with bsporty and launched this exclusive IAPS section as part of their fantastic magazine for children

Each year we have a lot of people to thank; IAPS’s extensive sports programme would not be possible without so much support. We would like to thank:

  • schools and organisers who hosted an event on behalf of IAPS. Their time, dedication, hard work and abundant enthusiasm in staging events really does not go amiss.

  • Sport Committee for their continuous support. The Sport Committee is made up of 12 Headteachers who all help to shape the sports programme.

  • competitors for taking part and giving it their all. We hope to welcome many of you to another IAPS event very soon.

  • coaches and teachers for bringing the competitors out to our events, come rain or shine.

  • spectators for always coming out in their masses to show their support.

When it is safe to do so, we cannot wait to launch our programme for 2020-2021. The IAPS Sport team has been busy during lockdown preparing for next year and we have so much to look forward to including:

  • the launch of an IAPS Sport mascot (coming in September’s edition)

  • new events including small schools football and hockey

  • a multisport camp in partnership with Loughborough University (look out for this launching in the autumn term)

  • international events

  • a Directors of Sport conference for your teachers to attend and learn lots of new skills to share with you in your lessons

If we can open events, dates will go live and bookings will open in September for your teachers to book on.

Depending on government guidance, we may have to reduce the size of events, so events will be booked on a first come first served basis. We look forward to seeing you at events throughout the year.
