Fundraising
After reading the book ‘No Ballet Shoes in Syria’, and learning about the plight of refugee children, the difficulty they face, some arriving unaccompanied to our country, 8-year-old Sienna decided that together with her brother Sebastian they would like to find a way to help them. They created a fundraising challenge to run 50km in 10 days to raise money for The Refugee Council. And as a thank you to all the doctors, nurses and those who work in hospitals during this COVID pandemic, they decided to split the money raised and donate half to NHS Charities Together.
Sienna, a pupil at Rowan Preparatory School in Claygate, Esher and Sebastian, exceeded their target and raised an incredible £1721.25! Sienna is delighted that she was able to help her chosen charity in this way and even managed to shave five minutes from her 5km running time! Great work Sienna and Sebastian, this is a wonderful achievement.
