British Cycling & Trek

British Cycling has announced that they have partnered with Trek as their new Community Bike partner.

After a successful trial in Sheffield in 2022, mountain bike skills sessions took place across eight schools in the city. It reached more than 3,000 young people, with five teachers receiving training to continue delivering sessions in the future.

The new partnership will see 500 bikes provided to benefit 40,000 new riders – mainly children and young people.

The bikes will support the British Cycling Community Coaches who are based in Colchester, Coventry, Leeds, Leicester, London, Manchester, Nottingham, Plymouth, Sheffield and the West Midlands. They will also support the new City Academies programme which was set up in 2021. This programme is all about creating new pathways to cycling for people from diverse ethnic communities and lower socio-economic groups. It started in London and has now been extended to Birmingham.

We think this partnership sounds like a great way to get more young people cycling and accessing the opportunities that this great sport can offer.
