Let’s Ride

If you’ve never cycled before or you have a bike but you’re not sure where safe cycle routes are near you then take a look at the ‘Let’s Ride’ page here.

For beginners, follow the link to ‘Ready, Set Ride’ which has step by step videos on how to buy a bike, balance, pedalling and helmets.

If you already have your own bike and know how to ride it then follow the ‘Find a Route’ link. There are an incredible 1000 + free cycle routes available!! Simply put your post code into the search box and find the ones near you!

 
 

Bike Maintenance

If you own your own bike it’s really important to learn how to keep it working properly and safely. There are some top tips on this link thanks to British Cycling here.

Pathway

The British Cycling Talent Development Pathway aims to help young cyclists who may then move on the the G B Cycling Team Programmes.

Step 1 – Development Centres which are open to all cyclists aged 12-15.

Step 2 – If you do well, and generally this is for 13-15 year olds-you may be nominated by your club for the Regional School of Racing https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/getinvolved/article/20181005-about-bc-static-Regional-School-of-Racing-0

 
 

Step 3 – Riders will be invited from Development Centres and RSR sessions by the talent development coaches TO JOIN THE National School of Racing usually a year before they can enter the GB Cycling team.

British Cycling 

British Cycling is the governing body for eight cycling disciplines, which are:

  • Road

  • Track

  • Mountain bike

  • BMX

  • BMX freestyle

  • Downhill mountain bike

  • Cyclo-cross

  • Cycle Speedway
