Darts
Junior darts has become increasingly popular in the last 5 years due to the creation of the Junior Darts Corporation and the sport offering a clear pathway to become a full time professional.
Darts has moved on so much in the last 20 years and is now very accessible to younger players and offers exciting opportunities to play all over the world.
As once quoted by the legend of darts Eric Bristow "Darts is an easy game to play but a hard game to play well"
Darts is a fairly inexpensive sport to play and offers little barriers for anyone to get involved.
It improves hand/eye coordination, concentration, focus and accuracy.
Darts also offers one other thing that is particularly good for young players, NUMBERS. Yes!! Darts is all about numbers, calculating what you need, what you hit and what you have left. As well as a bit of pressure knowing your opponent is doing the same...
Did you know that darts at professional level is the second highest viewed sport on Sky Sports second to football?! Professional Events pack out arenas such as the o2, Manchester Arena, Rotterdam Ahoy with as many as 10,000 spectators.
At local level children can play in clubs, academies, with friends and of course at home. It's a sport you can play with all the family and if you are really good at it, there’s a clear pathway to the top.
JDC virtual is a great way to practice darts at home with your family.
Anyone can register and play for FREE. To qualify a player must unlock six passports and qualification attempts are also totally FREE. Qualification for this event finishes on December 1st 2020 but you can still take part for fun.
Guide to scoring in darts
Ever wondered how to score in darts? Here’s our easy guide to help.
When scoring you start with a score of 301 or 501 points.
If you are playing friends 301 is a bit quicker for beginners. Every official game/tournament will be 501.
Each part of the dart board has a value.
You take it in turns with your opponent to throw your darts and the first person to get down to 0 wins the game.
A single game of darts is called a LEG of darts.
The hardest part is trying to finish your score, as you can only win a game of darts by finishing the game on a double on the outer ring or with a bullseye finish in the middle.
The outside ring is double the number score
The inside ring of the number is triple the score
The green circle in the middle is 25points
The red bullseye central segment is 50 points
