Festival of Sport at Holkham – 12th – 15th August 2022 A weekend of family fun with sporting legends returns to Holkham!
After a hugely successful first year, Festival of Sport will be back at Holkham this August with an extra night added. It is the ultimate family sports festival which has Ex England Rugby Stars Will Greenwood and Austin Healey at the heart of it. Centred around a programme of core sports, Festival of Sport provides an amazing opportunity for kids aged 5-16 to try new sports for the first time whilst also receiving expert coaching and learning new skills in the sports they love. Sports include rugby, hockey, cricket, football, gymnastics, netball, tennis, rowing and athletics. There are also taster sessions for sports such as trampolining, boxing, archery, MMA, dodgeball and more! Designed with everyone in mind, there’s something for all regardless of age or experience. Alongside the full children’s activity programme, you will find taster sessions for grown-ups, a host of wellness workshops, a family 5k and various activities to keep the under 5’s entertained. Combining this with the live music over the weekend and the Friday night open air cinema, you won’t be short of ideas to keep you entertained!
At last year’s festival, the film of choice for the outdoor cinema was The Greatest Showman (complete with a side of popcorn of course!) and there was also a welcome BBQ to kick off the weekend. The Saturday and Sunday were jam-packed with the kids’ sports programmes with parent’s vs legends games thrown in throughout. The fun didn’t stop when the sun went down though, as the entertainment went into the evening and saw Legends and families dancing with the live band. There were no VIP areas and all of the sports stars, many of whom brought their own families along, were very much involved in every element of the weekend. Austin even dressed up as the Leicester Tigers mascot and greeted the families on arrival, how is that for a welcome!?
In 2021, the Legends included rugby greats Will Greenwood, Austin Healey, Rachael Burford and Mike Tindall, hockey Olympic gold medallist Alex Danson, England netball legends Pam Cookey, Karen Atkinson, Tamsin Greenway and Karen Greig, World Synchronised Champion trampolinist Amanda Parker, tennis player Olivia Nicholls, double Olympic medal winning rower Anna Watkins, Premier League and England striker Dean Ashton, two-time European winning golfer Graeme Storm, former England, Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire cricketer Ryan Sidebottom and more!
The calibre of sporting stars is set to be just as spectacular for 2022
