Sam Woods - Sports Psychology
Name: Sam Woods
Job: Sport Psychology Consultant
What does that mean?
I help professional and amateur athletes overcome problems, enhance their performance and achieve their goals.
Why would I need one?
Some athletes seek help from a sport and exercise psychology professional when they have a problem. They might become anxious or lose focus during competition. They might have trouble communicating with teammates, controlling their temper or be struggling to comeback from an injury.
However, athletes also get in touch to help improve their performance, cope with upcoming pressure, enjoy sport more or maintaining motivation to exercise. I can also help outside of sport, around exams or other performance pressures.
Who have you worked with?
2 years at Leicester City’s Academy
2 years at Leicestershire County Cricket Club’s Academy

How can you help kids reading this magazine?
I will be writing for bsporty every month. I will give insights into the world of sport psychology and how others handle the mental side of the game to hopefully teach you something new.
How to get in touch?
As well as monthly articles, each month I will be answering questions that you send in. All questions will be answered anonymously and when you ask questions you will be helping so many others experiencing the same thing so please ask anything!
Remember to get your parent or guardian’s permission first!
