World’s best skateboarders announced for National Championships
Skateboard GB have announced the full list of skateboarders who will compete at the Skateboard GB x Habito National Championships, which will take place over 2 weekends this month.
The confirmed names include skateboarding superstar Andy Macdonald, Team GB’s Olympic competitor Bombette Martin and last year’s park competition winner Alex Hallford.
British skateboarders were invited to enter the open event by providing video evidence of their ability and the final list was decided by a SBGB panel, based on a selection criteria.
Andy Macdonald is a professional skateboarder of almost 30 years and holds the record for most medals ever won at the X-Games in the Vert discipline. He has appeared on various skateboarding video games, delivered a speech at the White House and regularly skates with his good friend Tony Hawk.
Bombette Martin, 15, originally from Birmingham was the first ever skater to drop in and compete at the Olympic Games Park Skateboard Event in Tokyo last year. In addition to her performance at the Olympic Games, she was also the winner of the National Championships in 2021. The street competition will feature Alex Decunha who narrowly missed a place at Tokyo 2020.
This year’s competition introduces a new format for the championships, with the Park discipline (in Hemel Hempstead) and Street discipline (in London) being split into two separate events with qualifying events and finals being held over two different weekends, with a combined prize fund of £26,000.
The National Championships would not possible without the amazing support of our sponsors: Habito, Tech Deck, Skate Hut, Bullet, Birdhouse, Arbor, Reyt and Aquapax.
