Young Reporter - Rebecca
My name is Rebecca and this was my Visa Ball Kid experience.
I was over the moon to hear that I had not only been put forward but accepted to take part in the Visa Ball Kids programme. I was extremely excited in the lead up to the opening UEFA Women’s Euro 2022TM game. The day of the game arrived and myself and my mum travelled down to Manchester. It felt like an extremely long journey but it was worth it.
Walking round the stadium, finding where I was to stand was like a dream. I was based at the side of the goal and I was very focused during the game to see how the professionals play and what tips I could take from them. I was lucky as I had my two seconds of fame on the TV when a corner was taken but I was too concentrated on the game to care at the time. It was an amazing feeling to be a part of something so big. It gave a sense of belief that Women’s football is growing and hopefully will soon be just as supported as the Men’s game. I had the best time being part of the game as a Visa Ball Kid and continued to watch the tournament once I came home.
I have played football since a very young age and my determination and love for it has only grown over the years. I always want to be playing football and when I’m not, I’m finding ways in how I can improve. I take football very seriously and I always give my all to every training session and every match. I am currently captain for my squad and I have been for the past 5 years. I also coach at my football club and take great passion in what I do. I enjoy teaching younger kids to play football and how to gain confidence and friends. Football played a big part in bringing my confidence out. I live and breath for football. I hate when I can’t play, but I still turn up and support my team.
