Ice Skating has so many elements to it that you might enjoy with family and friends.

Learning this sport opens opportunities to try speed skating, ice hockey, ice dancing or figure skating.

Figure, Speed and Short Track skating will all take place at the Winter Olympics.

British Figure Skating Championships

This is the pinnacle of the national figure skating calendar and excitingly will be available to watch on BBC iPlayer as well as the BBC Sport website and app on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th December. Every Senior category will be broadcast live from Sheffield as skaters seek to be crowned British Champion.
The Junior Figure Skating takes place on 2nd and 3rd December and it's possible to get a pass to watch via BIS TV - simply follow the link on www.iceskating.org.uk

 
 

In the senior events, Olympic hopefuls, including Ice Dance stars Lilah Fear and Lewis Gibson and Dundee-based Natasha McKay, will be in action just months before they hope to compete at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games.

Current British Champion PJ Hallam will skate in the men’s side of the competition, as will Ed Appleby who is stepping up to the Senior category. Appleby has had a fantastic season so far, winning Great Britain’s first Junior Grand Prix medal in 19 years. Read last year's interview with Ed Appleby here.
