Commonwealth games 2022 Birmingham
There are less than 100 days until the Commonwealths in Birmingham when over 4000 athletes from 72 nations will compete in 19 different sports and 8 para sports. From Aquatics to Diving to Wrestling, spectators can enjoy seeing Basketball 3x3 at Smithfield Market and Gymnastics at the Arena. Birmingham has been transformed into a city of celebration, bringing culture, hometown heroes and visitors to this brightly painted city.
The Queen's baton is now on a journey to reach every corner of the Commonwealth which includes all nations. This journey started in October 2021 and will end in Birmingham.
Deborah Cadman, Chief Executive at Birmingham City Council, said: “We’ve come so far over the last four years since Birmingham was named as Proud Host City for the Commonwealth Games.
The hard work put in by everyone involved is clear to see and the finishing touches are now being made to ensure the city and wider region are a perfect platform to bring people together for the biggest event to be staged in our history.
This is our chance to be bold and deliver a golden decade of opportunities for Birmingham.”
