Founded in 2005, the British Junior Golf Tour (BJGT) is a well-established and well-respected name in junior golf which attracts some of the best junior golfers from all around the UK, and beyond. The tour is run on a full-time basis by Neil Randall and Steve Adams and the main objective is to provide regular competitive, challenging, fun and affordable junior golf competitions across the UK.

Past players (e.g. Aaron Rai, Jack Singh Brar, Asthon Turner, Alice Hewson) have gone on to represent England at both junior and senior level, the Walker Cup, and on to the European Men’s and Ladies’ Tours.

As the market leader, our events provide a much-needed platform for junior golfers aged between 5 and 17 years to test themselves against their peer group in a friendly, but competitive environment. As one of the few organisations in the UK to promote the use of caddies in all categories, we are encouraging families to come out and enjoy the game together.

The British Junior Golf Tour is also the only junior golf tour in the UK with qualifying status for the IMG Academy Junior World Championships, which is the oldest and most prestigious junior golf tournament in the world, taking place in San Diego, California, every July.

BJGT events regularly see between 80-120 players across all divisions, which ensures good competition in each category. Younger juniors on the BJGT compete in age-related (6 & Under, 7-8, 9-10), mixed gender competitions played over nine holes on shortened courses. Juniors aged 11-12 years play 18 holes from the red tee. Ages 13-17 (11-17 for girls) play in the Junior Open over 18 holes, with boys competing from the white tee and girls from the red tee. The Junior Open competitions are handicap-qualifying, and entry is restricted to those with a maximum CONGU handicap of 28 for boys and 36 for girls. All BJGT competitions are stroke play (also known as medal play) and gross scoring (the Junior Open also has a net scoring division).

Juniors competing in BJGT events earn Order of Merit points throughout the season and in 2020 this is a ‘best of’ series, which will take players’ top 10 results across the season. Qualification for the Tour Championship at Foxhills Golf Club in October is based on a player’s position on the Order of Merit following the final tour event.
