We will bring you a full article on The Games in April's edition but wanted to tell you a bit about it in advance so you know more about this amazing event and can look forward to finding out more!

What are the Invictus Games?

We talk a lot in bsporty magazine about the power and positivity of sport. The Invictus Games is about using sport to help servicemen and women who have been injured by providing a sporting competition to showcase their strength, power and resilience. It also helps to raise awareness of what they have been through and achieved and to help others in their rehabilitation. The word 'invictus' means 'unconquered' and that's what these men and women are -and they get the opportunity to celebrate and prove that through this sporting competition.

The sports

There are ten sports and athletes can choose to compete in one or more than one. The sports are athletics, archery, cycling, indoor rowing, JLR Driving challenge, powerlifting, sitting volleyball, swimming, wheelchair basketball and wheelchair rugby.

What is the Invictus Games Foundation?

Spearheaded by the Duke of Sussex the Games began in 2014 in London and the creation of the Invictus Foundation followed. The Foundation helps the injured and sick ex servicemen and women in their day to day lives to access help to aid their recovery.
