National Schools Snowsports Association
The National Schools Snowsports Association has been working hard over the last 18 months to keep snowsports moving through the tough period for activity and travel that we have been through. The NSSA was founded by Alpine Coach, Phil Brown to build participation in snow sports via schools.
Even though tourism and school sports were severely affected by the pandemic, they’ve kept many events running, working within the restrictions and introduced other programmes aimed at getting further participation. Whether you’ve never skied or tried snowboarding before, or you’ve already tried the sport and want to do more, the NSSA offer competitions and activities in alpine and freestyle. They’ve recently run more events than ever before, added new programmes and instructor/coach education opportunities to skiers from schools
The indoor events have been running after a year’s absence with nearly 600 participants from over 200 schools taking part and, when combined with the dry slope events, National Schools Leagues and Training for schools, this number triples, reaching children all around the UK.
We’ve moved forward with our collaborations within British snowsports, Schools Tour Operators and the Ski Club of Great Britain and we remain affiliated to Snowsport England, as the organisation building participation through schools. Snowsport England also gives membership and insurance to all NSSA member schools.
Several of the NSSA Squad participants have gone on to the National Schools Squad and beyond to Home Nations squads!!
