Red Shark Bikes
We have featured Red Shark Bikes in a previous article but we're here to tell you about their latest creation - the Multi Sports Toy.
This new bike can be used for lots of different types of water fun and you can try them out at Alderford Lake! We spoke to the team at the lake and Chloe, who has used the bikes there, to give you the low down!
Meet Chloe who has used the bikes:
What is your name?
Chloe Clements
HOW OLD are you?
11
What are your favourite sports?
Cycling, ice-skating and dancing.
Do you represent any clubs, if so who?
I don’t at the moment but I am starting secondary school in September and looking forward to all the new sports that will be on offer.
Who are your sporting heroEs and why?
Laura and Jason Kenny. I live in Cheshire and see them out cycling. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the Tokyo Olympics, especially the track cycling.
Where did you use the Red shark Water Bike?
Alderford Lake, Shropshire.
Have you tried Stand Up Paddle Boarding before and if so how did the Red Shark water bikes compare?
I haven’t yet. I would love to try paddle boarding and canoeing at Alderford Lake soon.
Was it easy to learn?
Yes, very easy! A bit wobbly to start with but soon felt stable. It’s just like riding a bike but on water.
Do the bikes capsize easy?
No, they are very balanced. I wore a wetsuit and went for a swim in the lake afterwards.
What did you enjoy most about the Redshark bikes?
Everything! This combines my love of cycling and a really fun water sport. I love it!!
Meet Kelly Lowe from Alderford lake:
Where is Alderford Lake?
Alderford Lake is situated on the Cheshire/Shropshire/North Wales border in a lovely market town called Whitchurch. We are only 30 minutes away from Chester, Shrewsbury & Wrexham and an hour from large cities such as Liverpool, Birmingham & Manchester
What Activities do you provide for Children at Alderford lake?
We have a large range of activities on offer. If you like the water we have a fantastic aquapark, climb, jump & run on a huge inflatable on the lake. You can of course try out our brand new aquabikes. We also have paddleboards, canoes & kayaks to hire or you can bring your own! For those wishing to remain dry we have the Maize Maze, Climbing Wall, Wild Playground and Archery
What facilities do you have at your location?
We offer both land and water activites, wild swimming, food and drink to enjoy in our Lakeside Kitchen. Takeaways from our Lakeside Takeaway. Pop up Shops. Changing rooms & toilets. Wetsuit and buoyancy aid hire. Farm Shop.
How many Redshark Bikes have you at Alderford Lake?
We have 8 red shark aquabikes, 4 of which can be made into tandems.
What ages can use the bikes?
We recommend 8+ with a minimum inside leg length of 75cm
How does the experience differ to stand up paddle boarding?
Aquabikes are much more stable, they are also a great form of cardio exercise. These are great for people who perhaps don’t want to try paddleboarding but can join in with those that are.
Do they hire them in groups or as individuals?
Both!
If they fall off, is it easy to get back on and get started again?
In the unlikely event you fall off, you simply turn the bike back over and pull yourself back on. We always have a member of staff around should anyone struggle, we will swim out and assist.
Do you have a lot of families hiring the bikes?
Yes absolutely. Families tend to hire them out together or as part of an activity, ie some of the family are paddle-boarding and some on bikes
How about for party hire?
Yes, we do games with the bikes to get more people involved
What do your visitors enjoy most about using the Red Shark Bikes?
Enjoying the open water. Something completely different and unique. Great fun for friends and family.
