Rugby Six Nations

It's a big month for rugby union.

Not only have we all been gripped by the Men's Six Nations competition, but the U20's are also in action and the Women's Six Nations competition starts on the 25th March.

In our last article, we predicted some upsets in this year's Men's competition and it has been incredibly entertaining and exciting. There have been close matches, controversy and new team choices with some big names omitted from the starting 15. Wales nearly went on strike, Steve Borthwick did not pick Marcus Smith to start for their most recent match, only putting him on for the last few seconds of the match. Italy has wowed us with their matches and now lead Wales in the table! The Scotland team has also been incredibly impressive with some big tries and exciting play. France has held on, we never write them off in any game, but it has been very tense for them at times.

As we go live with this article, Ireland leads the table with three wins out of three matches. Scotland, England and France are then joint second with two wins out of two and with ten points each. They are followed by Italy and then surprisingly Wales currently without any points.

Women's Six Nations

The Women's competition starts at the end of the month and is already breaking records for match tickets sold and the atmosphere is already building! England will play one game, vs France, at Twickenham for a stand alone fixture for the first time ever. Stand alone means that they are not playing on the same day as the men's team. This is big news because it is looking very much as though Twickenham will be sold out and this will be the evidence that the women's game and all their supporters need that the women also deserve to play in their nation’s home stadium! England, however, will sadly be without Shaunagh Brown who retired at the end of last year.

The competition starts on the weekend of 25th March.

25th March

Wales vs Ireland at 2.15 pm

England vs Scotland 4.45 pm

26th March

Italy vs France 3 pm
