Surfing
There has been a lot going on in the surfing world already this year in the UK.
Junior Surf Series
On 26th March Croyde Bay hosted Stage 1 of the Junior Surf Series. Developed to try to encourage more competition opportunities for junior surfers as well as connecting surf clubs this was the first of five regional events.
The event was for Under 12 Girls & Boys, and Under 14 Girls & Boys. According to Surfing England, 'Surfers were greeted with small but highly rip-able clean waves and the juniors showed amazing positive attitudes and approach to their surfing, adapting to the conditions as the offshore wind stiffened and the tide started to hit some of Croydes famous banks.'
Event Two will take place in Newquay (Fistral) on Saturday 18th June
Event Three will be at Widemouth Bay on Sunday 26th June. On 10th or 11th September the fourth event will be at Praa Sands.
The fifth will be held over the weekend of 8/9th October with Tynemouth Surf Co.
There will also be a Finals Day in late October 2022, where the winners from each competition will be invited to compete.
Keep your eyes open for the next generation of British surfing talent!
